Old Man of The Forest

Old Man of the forest

Why do you speak to me

in my dreamtime

when rest is paramount

Why, do you need to tell me

the things you do, urging

my consciousness to realize

that which I had buried

in a memory bank...

Entombed long since hence

the memories of yesteryear

places, smells, flights of fancy

unrealistic expectations

forgotten events...

Though some could never

be forged in stone, weathered away by cruel winds

nor cold water icing over in snow laden flurries

or the shadows fleeting at midnight

of a little girls imaginings!

Why must you resurrect these

as though they need looking into

when life has journeyed far beyond

leaving behind all that which singularly

reduced one to crumpled leaves on a cold

earthern floor!

Why?

Must it be?

I guess it must.

I shall entertain you for a time,

viewing the panorama of life's journey

for in this I shall see if you mean to heal

or to harrass, hoping the former

for the latter is nowhere to be found in this

moth eaten heart!

Give me all that I need, float down on

the gentle breeze, memoirs of a sojourner

throughout the tapestry of life

without the final threads tacked in place!

I see the Nests within your fronds,

I see the other trees wound within your tresses

of luscious leaves, I see you are wise, kind

an host of many, all seeking shelter

all flourishing, your countenance is wisdom

though gnarled are the branches

reaching down, bearing the weight of wear

flowers blossom in your bosom,

therefore you are true,

I see this in You!

Old Man of the Forest,

embrace me too,

 within the fronds,

 flowers, vines of volumes

of life’s experiences, page after page...

I shall allow your intervention in my dreamtime

for I see it is time...

Time to look up into your hollow eyes

yet, below in your bowels

is a haven of rest

Of Sanctuary!
